2009

I finished 5th. What a fun but grueling race. It was so hot and dry with temperatures around 100 degrees, in a 2 hour race it really takes its toll on you. The race started with 34 Pro’s and only 25 finished, there were a few injuries but nothing serious. I have to say WORCS did a great job finding some new areas to race on.

My start wasn’t bad about 8th or 9th. When we went into the off road we entered a gnarly single track of which the first 5 or 6 riders made it through clean. I was behind Taylor Robert and Brenden Ritzman when Robert crashed totally blocking the track. It was unpassable so we had to wait for Robert to get his bike going. Right behind me were bikes crashed and a huge bottle neck forming, the semi pro’s had caught up to the remaining pros’s. WORCS officials ended up closing this section and rerouted all of the riders around, what a mess. I really had to put my head down and try and catch the lead group who were several minutes ahead by this time.

I would like to have been on the box, but under the circumstances was glad to make it up to 5th. I am now 3rd in points for the series overall. My next race is the final WORCS race on October 25th in Mesquite, Nevada.
